Posted on 17. Sep, 2011 by in Reviews

It is widely speculated that we would see a Mohave for 2012, though the Korean car maker has not made any official announcement yet. Mohave is nothing but another name of Borrego in the auto markets outside North America. Let us see what the speculations talk about Kia Mohave 2012.

Engine Design and Performance

The model was originally designed by Peter Schreyer, a former chief auto designer with Audi, and was manufactured in South Korea, Russia and Kazakstan. For 2012 it is expected to come with either a 4.6liter V8 Hyundai Tau engine or a Lambda II 3.8-liter, V6 engine.

The former is expected to give a power output of 337hp, while the latter can be a reduced of an engine offering just 276hp.

Towing and MPG

The V6 model can tow up to a maximum of a whopping 5,000pounds, while the V8 version can show more monstrous power with up to 7,500pounds of towing. The combined gas economy of the model is expected to be 18mpg, which is quite decent for the segment.

Will it be Safe Enough?

Though we are still not sure about the 2012 edition, looking at the previous edition we can say that this SUV indeed is one of the safest one. The older versions have already received 5 star rating for both driver and passenger crash tests. The standard safety amenities include front and side airbags, rear parking sensors, antilock brakes and an all important electronic stability control.

As we mentioned earlier, it is still not sure whether the vehicle will be released or not but if it does it is expected to have all the goodies seen in a modern SUV.
